Lala Gray: Midwest, USA, United States; When we teach epics, we say that they often begin not only in the middle of the action but that they begin at an intense, even pivotal point, in the story. So goes this blog. It begins in the middle of my life...in my middle age as I live in the middle of the country, or at least as close to the middle as Chicago comes. While I am not nearly "middle" enough in my political leanings, a good deal of what I am desperately seeking is greater balance in life. To that end, I am trying to place myself solidly in the middle of most things. By profession I am a teacher, but inspired by the PhD, I vowed that I needed to put my efforts into writing. That vow gives birth to this blog. It reflects my efforts for balance, my longings for all that was good about the past, and my hopes for all that can be better as we move forward. My blog will be peopled with those who are important in my life. If you have found yourself here, I hope that you find something positive to take away from these posts.
